Abstract This book of Sayyid Salman Safavi, a modern representative of the Safaviya mystical order (tarikat), contains a description of the basic principles of Islamic mysticism. Providing definitions to such notions like mysticism (‘irfan, tasavvuf), mystic (salik), mystical path (suluk), mystical journey (asfar), the author focuses his attention not on theoretical (nazari), but on practical (amali) aspects of Islamic mysticism.
