A unique book written by Hamid-Reza Kelichkhani — "Iranian calligraphy. Introduction to the tradition" — was presented on 13 November at the RAS Institute of Oriental studies.
The event was attended by the author — a famous calligrapher, general director of the Tehran Art Gallery, author of almost 30 academic works on calligraphy; B. Norik (the book's translator, junior research worker of the History Department of the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies); A. Alikberov (deputy director of the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies, head of the Central Eurasia Research Centre; A. Vasilyev (senior research worker of the Central Eurasia Research Centre); D. Dubrovskaya, senior research worker of the History Department of the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; H. Hadavimogaddam, president of the Ibn Sina Foundation; A. Lukashev, research director of the Ibn Sina Foundation, S. Tabai, general director of the Sadra publishing house.
The speakers praised the contribution of the Ibn Sina Foundation and the Sadra publishing house to the publication of the book. The author and the translator spoke about the work's content and its aesthetic value.
The speeches were followed by a screening of Amir Valinejad's "Tochka" documentary on Iranian calligraphy, which was released with the support of the Ibn Sina Foundation.
At the end of the event the director of the Ibn Sina Foundation donated a few copies of Hamid-Reza Kelichkhani's book, as well as "The unity of beauty" and "Music in the context of Islam" collections to the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies.
