Dear friends! Ibn Sina Foundation, Eastern Cultural Centre of Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences), “Sadra” Publishing House and Khayyam Cultural Centre kindly invite you to participate in celebrating Nowruz.

Speeches by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Kazem Jalali, the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies RAS A.K. Alikberov, the head of the Eastern Cultural Center (the Institute of Oriental Studies RAS) L.M. Ravandi-Fadai, and the president of Ibn Sina Foundation Hamid Hadavimoghaddam are scheduled in the framework of the event.

You will have a unique possibility to get acquainted with traditions, history and philosophy of this holiday, as well as with two new books published by the Foundation: “Persia – Iran: the 20th Century” by Alex Gromov and “Tales of Scheherazade” translated by Svetlana Tarasova, both invited as special guests. A pleasant bonus: you will enjoy a musical play on santur that is an Iranian traditional musical instrument.

We shall also tell you about our new project, a video blog under the title of “Carpet Aircraft”. Our guests will watch the first issue of the program dedicated to Nowruz even before the official publication.

Nowruz is the Iranian New Year. Today it is being celebrated not only in Iran, but also in the Central Asia and Caucasus. This is a holiday of spring and joy. It symbolizes the triumph of light and life and the victory of good over evil. Nowruz is rich on different traditions, history and customs, and we shall be glad to tell about them at the holiday at the Eastern Cultural Centre of Institute of Oriental Studies RAS. We will also prepare a traditional dinner “Haft Sin” especially for you. Welcome!
