“Fatima, the Prophet’s daughter” by Ali Shariati reissued

24.01.2017

The Sadra publishing house, supported by the Islamic Culture Research Foundation, has prepared a new edition of a well-known work of an outstanding Iranian thinker Ali Shariati — “Fatima, the Prophet’s daughter” (its original title is “Fatima is Fatima”).

Although the book is devoted to the Prophet Muhammad’s daughter, the author describes her personality not so much in terms of her piety and righteousness as in terms of an important role that Fatima Zahra played in the society. She opposed oppression with all her heart and soul, without fearing the consequences of the words she uttered, as she knew she spoke the language of the Truth.

In the first half of the book Ali Shariati speaks of a woman in general, examining her social roles and importance. He suggests Fatima Zahra as a role model for a modern woman.

The book will be interesting for a wide range of readers.
