The proceedings of the 11th International Symposium of the Maqam Research Group of the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM) have been compiled and published with the support of the Ibn Sina Foundation and the Russian Institute of Art History under the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The book summarizes the major proceedings presented by the Symposium participants — scholars from Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, and other countries. The abstracts are presented in both Russian and English.  The table of contents contains a list of the papers.

The Symposium "Maqamat in the History of Islamic Civilisation: Interconnections and Interactions" was held in November 2021 in video format. The scholars’ presentations focused on the classical music of the Islamic world - maqamat (in Berlin, Tampere, Istanbul, Samarkand, Urumqi, Baku, Sarajevo, Ankara, Shaki). The event was organized by the Department of Instrument Studies of the Russian Institute of Art History.
